An inspiration as well as an illustration

So as well as my fishie here is an AMAZING artist i found called Brian Dettmer.
I discovered him in... i think it was dazed an confused but i have a lot of magazines sprawled around my living room at the moment i cant remember.
he has a project called book autopsies and they are so detailed and intricate. i love using old books to create new things and this is incredible!

longest

Our internet is still not connected so I am having to buy coffee and sit in coffee shops like a loser on my laptop to update this but I have a couple of things to post.
I have been trying to work on a few things recently trying to get internships etc.. so far I have an idea of what im going to do but this has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Just a random doodle that I did and yet again it comes back to drawing animals! I do love it. I hate fish normally I hate but I did enjoy drawing this one!...

its a pretty bad scan because it was in an A3 sketchbook and my scanner is only A4 size!
I'd like to try and draw some more different fishies so i'll post more soon.

MELT

This is some typography that i did for a poster at college for the film the machinist.. i melted letters into metal and then scanned the metal. i think it creates some interesting textures and i was pleased with the outcome.

fritha strickland

I discovered this illustrator in the london metro where she won a competition to  be on the cover. she did an illustration about the animals that she sees on her way to work. I think i have a real soft spot for animal illustrations they seem to crop up where ever i go or whatever i do.
I love the childlike style of her illustrations and the soft colours that she uses. i think that they are simple but effective and they make me want to put them up on my kitchen cupboards so i can look at them all the time.

The worst internet cafe ever and now then..

So we still dont have the internet in our house in london.. I havent been able to post anything recently :(! but im in an internet cafe even though the internet is rubbish i am going to attempt a post....

i havent got any new illustrations to post but this magazine is from sheffield and something that i always kept an eye out for and collected when i could.
Now then is free and i think thats such a great thing that illustration can be broadcast to the whole of sheffield for free. it means more people can see and appreciate it.
i like that each issue focuses on one illustrators work and showcases a variety of illustrations by them.
